Yes, it does look crooked and off. No, mirroring does not highlight that unless you are the artist who drew it.
The idea is that you spend so much time looking at the shit you draw that sometimes the mistakes you make just look normal to you as you grow used to them, especially with proportion mistakes. Mirroring the drawing however helps you see what you actually drew rather than what you convinced yourself to see. It's like looking into the mirror and when you look at photos you question whether you really do look like that.
Someone who just saw the original Sprigatito won't be able to notice any new mistakes. I have no idea why people started flipping the cat to make a point and frankly it's pissing me off
