Bulbapedo say that Shirona have a sister but the german Pokemon wiki do not mention it and I can't find any sources on bulba.

In fairness, Barry and Lucas/Dawn are like 10(?) and Cynthia's 27(?) in DPPt, and Barry is an inconsiderate retard, so it's a fair enough question from multiple angles. He could've assumed she just left home before he got to know Lucas/Dawn, or that he's just never met her. It can also be used to exemplify how little he knows (cares) about his childhood friend.
