>>51844236I don't *want* to box them, I want my starter's path to be interesting and feel like they're growing along with me. Sword and Shield was the first time I ever boxed my starter, I can't believe they finally dropped the ball so hard that I didn't like a single final stage out of the 3. It's also the primary motivator for me to play any of the games more than once, which is part of why the last 3 games I've only played through a single time.
>>51844298Samurott's the only loser in my eyes. I do get disappointment in Emboar being bipedal (and I definitely get being disappointed in the 3rd Fire Fighter in a fucking row), but in a vacuum he's pretty cool and was my pick on playthrough #2.
Gen 1: All 3 are cool to me
Gen 2: Meganium is the weakest, but I still did at least one playthrough with it so I can't call it a loser
Gen 3: I've only ever gotten myself to play this one once, I just really don't like Hoenn, but if I did it again I'd have done a Sceptile run, leaving Blaziken out entirely because it fucking sucks
Gen 4: I did a run with all 3, though I probably like Empoleon the least and it just felt like I picked him because I didn't want to pick the same starter twice without using each at least once
Gen 5: As mentioned, I played through with Serperior and Emboar, never Samurott.
Gen 6: Chenaught run and I was done, though if someone put a gun to my head I'd probably do Greninja.
Gen 7: Decidueye, actually probably pretty high on my overall starter rankings but I really just don't care about the other two. I really, really hate Incineroar's design
and for some fucking reason I main him in Smash Bros.Gen 8: The boxed generation, I picked Sobble because I like his first stage the most out of the 3, but after I found out you can catch Arrokuda like 2 routes in, Sobble went into the box and was never let out.
