>>51848767This is true for many things, however Pokemon is NOT ONE OF THEM. Pokemon is a very wide, but also very shallow game. Half a dozen devs can make the turn based battle system in a few serial months, while the artists can do the animations and models in parallel. Because the art can be parallelized, they can just HIRE MORE ARTISTS to do it faster. Say it takes one month from blank file to fully modeled and tested Pokemon? Hire 1000 artists and have them all work for one month. Then the next month have them each do one move in battle. Then the next month one NPC each, etc.
RPGs, especially ones like Pokemon that don't even care about art direction or quality could run massively parallel operations and get everything they want in game done in a matter of months. They could unironically have yearly releases, much less every three, if they actually wanted to.
