This. Scripting on the DS games is cancer incarnate. I tried to make a hack to take out all the handholding out of HGSS (make it more of a true GS remake) and it took me a full week to make it up to Violet City. Just making Sprout Tower optional on its own was enough to make me quit.
There are people out there who have the skills and patience to do it but I doubt they'd be interested, it's such a niche idea.
