I'd love to see a developer worth a shit take Johto and expand on it for a modern video game experience. Always loved the atmosphere and themes, but GF never took it to its potential.

Kalos. A region with interesting routes/towns/locales, a cozy aesthetic, and strong real-world inspiration, sadly limited by the games it was in.

Had X/Y been better games or given an updated Z treatment, Kalos would be way more popular. Still love the region, even if the games haven't held up over the years.

The old games aren't underrated at all, and Galar is actually bad. 3DS games get shit on for being casualized, but there is a-lot of good to them.

Johto's got that Japanese touch and reminds me of a simple comfy adventure. Feels like someplace you could live.
Hoenn is fuckin sick. I love the varying biomes, love all the water, love the cities. Fortree? Based.
I know Unova gets memed because its circular shape but I like that about it. Love seasons, love how even smaller towns feel somewhat urban.
Love the comfy charm of Kalos. Hard to explain why. Everything has this sort of coat of cute I enjoy. And it makes me want to watch Code Lyoko.

Kalos is the one that's most restricted by the game it was in. Alola as well, but we had a "too much water" region before.

NTA but is there any Johto area in particular you feel should be expanded. Because while Johto is my favorite region and and think HGSS did a good job at fleshing out many places, I’ve always felt there were some missed opportunities but weren’t sure what I would even add.
