>>51860702date might be arbitrary but generations are not.
you are autisticly focusing on dates instead of the fact that each "era" can be defined by unique culture, access to technology and other things like political and religious climates etc.
sure someone born in 96 and 97 don't have any differences.
but you say when you say "gen z", nobody is thinking about someone born in 97, they imagine someone born in the mid 2000s with a shitty perm.
someone born in 2005 has been exposed to phones their entire life, iphones since at least their 7th birthday and odds are they've owned something like an ipad or iphone since close to that age too.
back in the day a kid playing GSC at the same age would sink 100s of hours into it, going back over the same routes to complete the dex, getting full teams of level 100s etc.
now kids finish the game and what's keeping their interest? why it's 100 methods to shiny hunt of course, and if it's easier to their favourite youtubers to do the same thing it keeps their interest long enough for them to buy the dlc that drops in a year time.
also for the sake of whatever you'd call this, I will concede that using the world "devaluing" was a poor choice of words, relegate would work better there was I'm not directly referring to a value, but more the fact that someone that was once rare is now not.
in the era of pkhex assigning physical value to a shiny is meaningless, its only true value is what the owner gives it.
