Game Freak always had this issue with heights. Nidoking for example is 4 foot fucking 7 despite being a kaiju.

In the anime, they explicitly said it was a Totem Trevenant which watched over the forest where it lived. That it hacked up a Firium-Z for Ash's Torracat when they helped ease its coughing fit should have keyed you to that as only Kahunas and Totem pokémon gave away Z-Crystals in the anime.

Because they're not meant to be "giant monsters" they're meant to be pokémon, which due to co-existing with humans need to stay relatively close to human size as an average.
Besides, you're saying that shit as if Totem/Alpha/Titan pokémon don't exist.
