I redesigned it to be a scarab since they're associated with carrying a singular round object (even if that object is the Sun instead of a coin). It has a slot where the divider of the scarab's back is. It has a fluffy collar like a king - which could be built upon in its evolution where it'd develop something vaguely cloak-like. This would tie in to a theme where the first stage is a peasant with a single coin and the final stage is a wealthy king with many.
