Too many moves and it's not challenging for people when a pokemon gets a new move every two levels.

Best thing would be to have a new move every 10-15 levels. Like Lv.6,20,35,50,65 and so on.

according to the creator the difficulty is balanced around the player constantly changing their mon's movesets and abilities (capsules are free now) according to the enemy they're going to face

That means the total gain of SpDef while evolving is just a measly 7.9 percent.

Does it matter? Yeah Slugma recieved a huge boost to tank hits in the early game but why does Magcargo need a proportional boost?
Also you have to take into account Magcargo also has +10 base hp

there's always going to be a tier list sure but there are dozens of mons that are dogshit after level 20 because others are that much better and/or because you obtain them way too late to matter. by the time you even have access to magcargo in most games you either have a better fire type or are smart enough to know 30 speed with 2 4x weaknesses is unusable

That’s mainly because Slugma got a larger relative boost then Magcargo. I’m assuming they didn’t want to make Magcargo’s stats too high (they want it to be good but not better then things like psuedos or legends)

I like the changes it made to Aurorus even though it should be Electric/Ice instead of Dragon/Ice. 110 Special Defense and 90 Defense is far more fitting than 92 Special Defense and 71 Defence. Also the 120 Special Attack is very nice.

Why can't Aurorus have better stats outside of ROM hacks :(

exactly, this change makes it so Magcargo fits an interesting niche as a counter to water types. He can either set drought and switch to a chlorophyll plant type or just render them useless with desolate land+solar beam
he can even shell smash, which makes him a base 95 speed with neutral nature (110 with favorable nature) which is not bad at all

Oh yes, of course, Mineral Shower. If only Gamefreak could just wake up and give Magcargo Mineral Shower he'd finally be fixed. I've been saying this the whole time. Mineral Shower, that's the move he needs! That's how we make Magcargo viable!

.. jesus christ does he learn a new move every two levels? I don't think that's the most elegant way to handle that.
