The first real dexcut was gen 2 to 3. That and the wait period between gen 6 release and Pokemon Bank transfer going live felt way worse than the official dexcut for some reason.

dexxit wasn't that bad and people overreacted
the DLC basically fixed a lot of it anyways, very few mons ended up being untransferrable

the new cutesy pokemon are really bland and i'm tired of it. every time i talk about how the designs have degraded people tell me off for it. like most of the new ones they revealed are recycles of the exact same design (greavard is literally litwick but a dog lol)

The increased focus on the human characters has had a massive detrimental effect on the series, in particular ruining maingame playthroughs with endless cutscenes and the creation of blatant shillbait characters like Marnie and Leon. N's whole dilemma. He's a really popular character, but I don't think I ever quite connected with the story. He grows up in the woods, learns how to "talk" with Pokemon, and tries to liberate them from what he believes is oppression. Ok, so he has a good angle. But then everyone just hand-waves the debate. "Pokemon are our friends!" "Pokemon like fighting!". etc. His own caretakers even tell you that he's wrong and deluded himself for 18 years. Just feels like they opened this ugly can of worms with that story, but didn't want to actually challenge anything in the end.

I genuinely don't get the love for Sinnoh. The caves are beyond tedious, the pokemon variety is very poor, and it has the slowest battles of any rpg i've played. Decent music can't carry a game on its own.

Even then it still wasn't to extent of the today's dexcut. All Pokémon were still programmed in Gen 3, you just couldn't transfer Pokémon from Gens 1 and 2 forward.

Nah there was no excuse. While there was no link cable to go from GBA to GB/GBC, they could have instead just required you to plug your GB/GBC cartridge into a GBA, put the Gen 3 game into another GBA, and then communicate between the two systems. They would have had to implement a way to convert the Gen 1/2 data to Gen 3's formatting, but there's no reason that wasn't doable. Just generate a new personality value like they already for for newly caught/hatched pokemon and multiple the existing DV's by two to convert them to IV's. It could have been done.

If you're being that picky, though you still can't transfer your real Cartridge Scizor from G/S/C only the one from Virtual Console.
Look I agree, man it sucks & I'm not justifying Dex or transfer cut. SwSh is trash & Gen3 sucks, but if I HAD to choose I'd play Emerald anyday over SwSh so that I could still have a Scizor rather than not have a Scizor.

Yeah, I've seen youtubers pull it off.
The thing is that 1.) it isn't official (I would personally say that that isn't even your actual "Scizor" but a clever way to copy the effects of trading and making a clone. To each his own interpretation of that frankenstein method, though lol) & 2.) the average, heck the majority of players won't have access to that much less do it.
