>>51872081Every remake prior to BDSP used the new tech:
FRLG runs on the RSE engine.
HGSS runs on the DPP engine.
ORAS runs on the X&Y engine.
LGPE is the first switch game, so, while it doesn’t compare to other games, it certainly used the new tech (motional controls) and upgraded the graphics.
Then we have BDSP, the “faithful” remake that is neither faithful nor modern. It doesn’t even use the SwSh or LGPE graphic engines. I think people would have been happy with a LGPE build for BDSP. Instead, it is a soulless cash grab that purposely used cartridges that had less memory to save money, making the games fundamentally bad in the future when the servers are turned off.
It also doesn’t have a single Pokémon after generation IV, BUT for some stupid reason, it has the fairy type. TMs aren’t reusable… but EXP Share is always on?!? Friendship is always on too, busting the game balance. Oh, and you can’t get three event Pokémon anymore or Arceus…unless you use PLA.
Character customization is limited, but that was the case for all prior remakes, so I’ll give that one a pass. Music is amazing, but they made the music part of the day one patch, so preservation will be challenging.
