XY was overall an underwhelming somewhat incomplete game, but it introduced

XY laid groundwork for the future games to expand on but that expansion never happened beyond ORAS. That’s why it’s hated so much, because it truly amounted to nothing. The entire generation felt like a waste of time, especially because it never got an enhanced version that could have easily improves everything that XY left half finished.
