This one didn't have the PLA starters but they're all downgrades except for samurott, which doesn't get much of an upgrade. Typhlosion would've been cool if it didn't have those terrible jell-o fire tentacles.

Blastoise, charizard, and sceptile all hit that perfect "looks cool and it's immediately apparent why you'd want them on your animal fighting team" sweet spot. Torterra speaks for itself.
>A
A line of damn solid animalistic designs that are only guilty of missing a certain wow factor that the ones above them have. Venusaur and modern skinny arms feraligatr are a bit borderline but their level of detail is enough to keep them interesting enough to be here.
>B
Very good, but a little off in some way. With a minor few tweaks I think everyone but infernape could move up by 1.
>C
Perfectly average, not really great but not bad. Decidueye is borderline, could go down 1 just for that awful wing snap in thing.
>D
"You tried" tier. Love inteleon's concept, gimmicks, and how it moves in the anime, hate the rest. Delphox is the only starter with a prop that handles it decently, though it could've been much, much better.
>D
Blaziken is a boring humanmon, not truly horrible but there's nothing really good about it.
>F
All of these have one or more major conceptual or design flaws. Feel a bit bad for chesnaught, who has a killer concept but one of the worst actual designs in the series. Could maybe move cinderace up one but I like blaziken being in its own tier of shame.
