Nothing, hacking tools are already made/being made and improved. People have already figured out how to make and import custom models, animations, events, completely change tile sets, add and bypass pokemon and move limits.

a couple already exist, like Luminescent Diamond and Sigma Platinum, though you're missing the point of the whole "omg unity engine is easy to work on!"
the entire point was that such an open source engine would be easy to work on, not for slight alterations like rom hacks but to change almost everything from the ground up for proper fan games. Though I have an inkling you know all this already and are just being retarded on purpose..

my issue isn't with people experimenting with the games like this (even if it objectively looks like shit having one normal human run around a horror village of mongoloid bobbleheads), but with the ones who were making noise about how this was going to make BDSP the best, most important Pokemon games ever

Do you know how long it took for even gen 3, the most moddable pokemon gen up until BDSP released, to have the tools to make any of the actually good romhacks we have now? And those games are a lot easier to change the looks of, anyone with a brain knows sprites are easier to handle than 3D models

Basically:
- the game is made in Unity which makes accessing scripts and graphical resources fucking EASY
- you can import custom maps from - wait for it - the tool DS hackers used and still use to this day
- adding dex entries, and editing databases in general is somehow easier than for DS games
BUUUT
- editing scripts is fucking aids because it's compressed like shit - that's what you get when ILCA basically translates the DS scripts to Unity without actually caring whether they're able to fucking read it as a person or not...
- editing graphics is half-aids because all the graphics are compressed in one .png file - so good luck guessing the size of the shit you're editing
- editing 3D shit like models is as aids as usual, because it's 3D shit.
'still good to note that the BDSP modders are able to do a whole lot of shit Plat modders beg for. Mainly FUCKING REGIONAL FORMS.

Not sure what validations does HOME do when connecting (login) neither which validations are at hand when selecting a save file and start moving pokemon. There must be some sort of masterlist because you can't for example move a Samurott from HOME to BDSP therefore I EXPECT them to have equivalent validations going from the other side juuuust in case but this is Game Freak and they may not have given a shit
