With Pokemon Journeys anime getting to its ending, the anime producers decided that it was a good idea to fill the last episodes with summary ones. I've been watching Pokemon anime since gen 1 (I've only skipped Orange Islands and Advanced Generation) and the only rare times they did summary episodes was when a Pokemon anime generation has ended.

Producers said that they were forced to schedule summary episodes because they had not enough staff to cover episodes production. Probably, next week, gen 9 anime will not event start and this friday could be last episode for a while.

AG had one recap episode and DP had two. They've also done a bunch of recap specials for new years and such, but they don't really count.

They said that while half episodes are "Team Rocket tries to catch Pikachu but fail miserably" and lots of episodes at Pokemon Journeys were cameos from older geneations? Pathetic. Even with Pokemon Gold/Silver games delay the anime producers made at least a new arc with new areas not appearing at the games.
