Which isn't wholly bad, but they made her into such a tagalong that she loses most of her relevance by the time Brock shows up. After the match at Cerulean, the writers seemed to slowly lose interest in her, and she never really received the same level of focus on her again. Well, until Chronicles. She was just there to show off skin, banter every once in a while, and hold Togepi. Even now, other characters are thriving in new material, while Misty's still chained to the same gym they dumped her at to retire her character. Misty managed to get some spotlight moments throughout her run, but they felt like a drop in the ocean compare to Brock and every other companion that came after.
