They gave it Charizard's worthless stats and literally nothing to compensate while Charizard has the one of the best movepools in the game, Belly Drum for no reason, an overpowered ability, and a broken new form every generation. Meanwhile Typhlosion had the worst movepools of any Fire type except Flareon (which has the excuse of not stepping on the other eeveelution toes), Flash Fire which is extremely situational at best, and was actively skipped over for Mega despite the Johto starters being plain enough that the "MAKE IT SPIKY AND EDGY" thing would have actually worked.
