Its resisted by a few shitmons. There is also a new ability that halves ghost damage so depending on who gets it it might resist the combo even if not a normal type.

Water/Ice has existed since Gen 1. I always viewed it as rather mediocre (gain a stronger ice resistance for fighting/rock weakness and steel/fire neutrality). What makes it suddenly such a "great" typing?

we won't know exactly until we get the moveset
that being said, it's combination of speed, sp-a and typing, even with just regular delibird's movepool and no additions, will see it being very good

it's an optimized pokemon with minor legendary tier stats so it's bound to be good

Water+Freeze-Dry has no possible resists based on the type chart alone, it requires the aid of abilities like Water immunities or Thick Fat, even that only turns up with Jynx and Walrein of all things.

Previously only Lapras which is slow and Arctovish which is physically slanted have had access to this combination.

Yes, it's even better. Ghost/Fighting is walled by Hisuian Zoroark which is actually good. Water/Freeze-Dry is walled by Walrein.

It's a glass cannon. It better hope it can hit SE hits because neutral attacks will probably leave it cooked by the opponent. At least Cloyster had Skill Link + Shell Smash to abuse. Does this thing get any way to boost itself significantly?

best possible STAB depends entirely on the meta though
a STAB combo that hit's 80% of OU for super effective damage is better than a STAB combo that hits everything in the game neutral

UU at the absolute worst and only if stall is a prominent playstyle there, otherwise UUBL.
Slight chance of ubers if OU is centered around Lando/Pex/Heatran/Chomp as usual.
Also has viability in ubers as it fucks a lot of things over.

People are overrating it too early on. Its stat spread is definitely good, but as far as we can see so far, lacks the extra wall breaking power it would need, and is quite frail. 114 defense is undermined by its pitiful HP.

Still, it has a fantastic speed tier, and good base offensive power alongside Ice, a good offensive type. Worst case scenario is it's competent, but if it gets all the toys it could really fuck things up.

We don't, no. The Beast Boost reskin is theorized just do to Khu likening Paradox's to UB's. It's possible, and if so will likely make a difference, as that favors mons that can revenge kill.

Really, all it needs is a strong, special based normal type move and it'll be golden. There's not much else it can ask for. Maybe Focus Blast or Grass Knot I guess.

Not sure about the STABs power but hell yes, Delibird IIRC is one of the first pokemon explicitly designed to be a shitmon, along with Unown.
Gen 1 had Ditto and Farfetch'd, but Ditto was meant to use its gimmick (which falls flat without Imposter) and Farfetch'd had at least SD and Slash (which work terribly together in gen 1, but individually they're good moves).

You can unironically use Tera Blast if anything else fails.
Focus Blast is the key thing it needs to be truly great, and U-turn too, but it's unlikely it won't learn them.
