It has to be fully adamant choice band for psychic fangs to even be a guaranteed 2hko on pex. Then pex just switches out into something that does resist fangs and gets most of its HP back.

If you want proof that this type of stat line can work, Weavile is one of the most obnoxious pokemon in OU right now, it just has the kit that can use it properly.

people have been falling for the high numbers for years

first it was overrating Haxorus and its 147 attack, or Chandelure and its 145 special attack

then it was underrating Yveltal and claiming it would drop to OU because its stat numbers weren't as high as other box legends

then it was calling Mega Sableye a shitmon with the ORAS demo leak (even smogon did this)

then it was overrating electric Rampardos aka Xurkitree as "guaranteed uber" and calling Celesteela "mediocre" because it was the only UB without any standout minmaxing

People didn’t overrate Chandelure’s stats. It was fucking Shadow Tag on it that they feared. Even gamefreak wasnt retarded enough to not see it, so much that they never released it before changing it.

Well it would have been definitely OU material in gen 3, even Slaking was UUBL.
But then Gen 4 ended up being the: "switch and get fucked" generation so hit-and-run mons like Rampardos didn't quite cut it in the higher tiers.

it's true that yveltal, xerneas, and kyurem basically have the worst stat spread for a 660+ BST box legend. in xerneas and kyurem's cases they don't have good physical movepools to make use of that 130 Attack.
xerneas without geomancy is almost worth considering for OU, as it's effectively a buffed tapu lele
but yveltal? lol. lmao even.
