Got mine removed a few months ago, nocked out instantly, woke up after an hour with 5 new holes and a very hurt throat because of the tube.
Be sure to go REALLY easy with food the first month, and then slowly start eating normal food again. If you fuck up that first month, you will never recover your digestive abilities.
Also you will drink a lot more water because bile being constantly dripped into your belly.

How painful is the recovery? I keep hearing the first 3 days are terrible. I had multiple pain attacks before thanks to the stones, is the pain that bad?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the gallbladder essentially has a snapshot of your microbiome, so in the event that an apocalyptic event happens in your stomach and intestines and you no longer have ANYTHING left, it can restart your processes.
In a less obscene case, that means it also lets you recover from surgery on your stomach a lot faster.

Not the same anon but I had mine done a few years ago. Recovery was not bad at all, I couldn't lift at all or bend much but I was off the pain meds after the first day.
Mind you I've had more than my share of surgeries in the past and my pain tolerance is a bit high, but just take it slow and be prepared to feel kinda shitty for a few days. I hope you have a smooth recovery anon!

Depends on the type of surgery, stitches hurt in a superficial way, mine was laser, but I heard if your gall bladder is too fucked up they go regular and you get a really big hole instead of 4 smaller ones.
Once the bladder is gone there is no more pain, nothing. Because there isnt one anymore.
God, the stones are the second most painful think I felt in my life, the first being an infected tooth nerve.
Now, the throat, I got tubed by a brute and my throat hurt way worse than the stitches, for a week straight.

The holes are really small, three 0.5cm and one 1cm cuts, and they double sedated me, jab+gas, so is not terrifying at all.

Realized I forgot to answer this. Recovery was way better than the attacks themselves. I couldn't move or breathe during attacks.
During the first day immediately after surgery I had one short moment like that as I was trying to sit up, but I was overdue for meds and the nurse was there to give me a dose anyway. Just be kind to yourself and don't try to push your limits.

3, stitches for 14 days, the second the doctor took them off, the second the pain went away.
You shouldn't need to shit for at least a week, since you should be only eating easily digestible vegetables in really small quantities and tons of water, for the first month.
I went back to my parents house for the recovery tho, so I was in full neet mode and barely needed to move from the couch.

If you find yourself having a lot of bile acid diarrhea afterwards, it should be normal until around 6 months or so. but 10% of people have it chronically. If you do, request Cholestyramine powder. Take a pack every night and you'll be a-ok! Biggest quality of life upgrade for me.

My recovery was not bad. Just sore from the muscle's being cut. Felt like really really sore. I had a painful episode the first day where I felt like I had too much gas and I had to explodingly shit, but after that I can't remember anything bad. This was in 2014. Super easy, really. No worries!

Not that anon but I've had surgery with general anesthesia.
It isn't like going to sleep. It's like blacking out in an instant and waking up the next.
The first 30 minutes of waking up feels like you've come back from the dead.
Very groggy and thirsty with a sore throat.
Don't drink too much water or you'll throw up.
But once an hour passed I felt back to normal and ready to leave the hospital

Yeah my throat didn't hurt at all, i had no issues when they intubated me. Didn't wake up thirsty or anything. I've been put to sleep 4 times in my life, Every single time it has felt like I started to get sleepy and then I just WOKE up. I never closed my eyes and went to sleep, I just time-skipped into after the event.

I dont think so, before the anesthesia, depending on the type of surgery, you get a jab with a cocktail made just for that surgery and person. Different chemicals gives you different experiences.
Also the throat is because of a brute putting the tube like a caveman and destroying your throat, as I recalled earlier, happened to me too.
