>>51977966Bara is technically a demographic (gay men), like shojo, shonen, josei, and seinen, since bara (which simply means rose) was the name of the magazine that had comics made by gay men for gay men instead of by fujos for fujos, which had their own magazines (usually shojo). But because most of the artists had a clear bodytype preference (that was pretty much the opposite of BL authors) it became associated with that. The line has become more blurry since then, since some bara artists are also shotacons and some fujos have started drawing bara because of jojo, kuroko and a bunch of other series, so like all otaku subculture shit it's complicated and changes with time.
