Can you change Tera Type?
Does Terastallize mean Protean or does it add a 3rd type?
Can you catch Titans/do Alphas or Totems exist?

Seems like it's a predefined thing, at least until they introduce a Max Soup-like item in the inevitable DLC.
Basically most Pokemon have a Tera type that matches one of their usual types (it's unrelated to Hidden Power types) but raid Pokemon sometimes have unique Tera types, just like how some Pokemon had Gigantamax marks but some of the same species didn't.

I believe in terms of STAB benefit you keep all types, but when calculating damage you take from other pokemon, it's like protean (you only have 1 defensive typing)
