absolutely absurd that they didn't use rock ghost for runerigus OR galarian corsola. they have to be avoiding it on purpose because pokemon types have been getting steadily dumber

There really isn't a single rock/ghost pokemon in any generation? Really surprising because of the remaining unused types this is the easiest concept to implement.

Runerigus got absolutely fucked by that decision. Ground/Ghost has too many weaknesses, while Rock/Ghost is a great defensive typing.

Before Scarlet/Violet there used to be 16 unused type combos, this number has been reduced to 9 and they are :

• Normal/Rock

• Normal/Ice

• Normal/Steel

• Normal/Bug

• Fairy/Ground

• Fire/Fairy

• Ice/Poison

• Ghost/Rock

• Dragon/Bug

In total this Gen introduced 7 new type combos, and they are :

A Pokémon having “Normal” as a type means it’s gonna be just an animal but with elements of the other type

I like this sheet, scratches that type chart autism itch. I’d just add Bug/Ground in the alternate forms-section, hate how it’s only a NFE and alternate form in Nincada and Wormadam.
