Cities don't have stores for shit anymore, nor any meaningful NPC. The only thing I can think of is doing something at the school, cause at the start of the game I went to talk to the math teacher and said something like "your relationship with her advanced". Maybe a hidden sidequest with one of the teachers?
Grasping at straws here, gonna try, but if someone is further in the game can give It a shot.
The other alternative is that there is some place where you have to lvl up (like galar Yamask)
