most of the plot should have focused on paradoxes rampaging, terrastalization and its origins. the anti-bully squad and "feed my geriatric dog magic sandwiches" storylines are utter garbage, the gym storyline is fine

PLA was actually pretty good, I enjoyed it well enough even if it was forgettable.

SwSh was horrifically, embarrassingly bad--but only at the end. The rest of the game's story was just boring.

But we know Gamefreak is too lazy. Think about the fact that they advertised 3 main story branches, and one of them (Team Star) is the same thing copy pasted 5 times: "KO 30 pokemon" with the extremely shallow Lets Go mechanics, watch the big car drive out with the leader on top, and then fight four or so pokemon with the car -- followed by a flashback cutscene talking about bullies. It's actually fucking unbelievable how they're going to get praise for this.

Prof. AI should have been the "big bad" legendary mon. Have it construct some super weapon which is, idk some crazy gun turret tank dragon, but its just a shell. You beat AI in normal battle, says fuck this, uploads itself into the tank dragon as its brain ready to wreck shit, you beat it, its programming resets and it believes it actually is a Pokemon and thats how you "catch" that legendary.

In my view, Pokémon has always had interesting worldbuilding, somewhat interesting set-pieces, and characters that, conceptually could be great given their premise. However, they always fuck up in the execution of the aforementioned concepts, making it as low-stake and childish as possible - to a degree that insults even children themselves.
All im saying is that, i dont want necessairly a more "edgy", or even "mature" story, just, a competent narrative that uses every concept it introduces and doesn't treat me like i have microcephaly.

Fan games have done similar ones of Professor Oak being secretly evil. Opinions vary on how well executed he was in fan games. Probably doesn't help that in the TCG side of things, there was this Impostor Professor Oak. It was used in Adventures manga and loosely with the Pokemon anime. But surprised not many fangames or rom hacks has done said Impostor Oak as his own character.

Said crystals also allows for miraculous technological advancements like sentient AI and time machine that allow for the capture of Pokemon from the past/future because reasons. But some leaks and rumors say that the actual power of these crystals is the materialization of dreams and imagination, which will tie in with the 3rd legendary in the DLC

I think he had his suspicions that his mom was dead all this time and his suspicions grew more as the story goes on. So in a way, he was somewhat accepting that his mom was already gone but chose to believe that hope that she might still be alive.

This is a pretty good run down. The early plots aren't anything special but don't have any "in 1,000 years something bad might happen!" moments. Victory Road is the weakest and kind of just exists cause it has to. There being 0 surprises and fairly bad teams is a shame. I think the people mad at Penny are just hung up on her design, its a basic bullying plot in a kids game. The last bit is some of the better writing in pokemon. Your friends actually bounce off each other as you look around the cave instead of just sucking each other off like modern pokemon characters. Having two sort of asshole rivals and a waku waku is a better balance. Everything with the Prof is done well and is one of the few times the series does a big reveal and it makes sense.

Also the complaints about Arven are stupid. He'd been abandoned by his parent for ages and they weren't close before shit went down. 10 minutes of crying rather than ending on a more positive note where his friends pull him on a new adventure wouldn't have made it any better.

The AI professor part was kinda cringy to me and I don't think Arven's part is any good. Even if I can understand why he doesn't really care, the plot loses all kind of emotional weight if the events are treated like that. Like just: "oh that's kinda sad, well, let's keep going!"

The characters on this plot left so much to be desired and the main plot is 80% just a long filler. I don't think this plot is any close to BW's or SM's. Maybe is closer to Legends Arceus or something like that. Just another "meh" plot for me.

I think this is why Violet works better as a story than Scarlet. Pokemon has always had absent dad characters, so the dad not being around and Arven getting over it so quickly isn't unheard of.
But with mom characters it's different. That's my opinion anyway. Sada was his mother, you know?

The fact of the matter is that quality of the plot itself is squandered by how stupid Pokemon characters are. It's irrelevant. If the plot of Scarlet and Violet were King Lear, it would be King Lear acted out by complete retards monologuing about "the power of friendship" and how important for Lear to "be himself". This is why it's more interesting to discuss the plot here; you don't have to deal with Penny or whoever talking about anime and sandwiches. It has also only gotten worse with the transition to higher and higher fidelity 3D graphics, because it's more difficult to imagine the 3D models properly emoting when they're barely animated.
