The "Pokemon formula" included Set Mode and at least a Battle Tower clone as postgame since Crystal in 2000. It also used to include the national dex.
I enjoy the Pokemon formula, I don't enjoy the garbage they made since LGPE/SWSH at all. It keeps getting worse.

I don't understand how Gamefreak can justify this game looking (and performing) worse than SwSh and PLA, with questionable character and pokemon designs to boot.

I mean I'd expect SV to sell anyway cuz it's fucking pokemon, but I really am curious to see how well these games will be received.

That's what's been bothering me. I can go back to gens 1-4 and immerse myself in the games and they'll stand on their own, but since the 3D jump everything genuinely feels like filler. Aimless, ugly and forgettable filler

Every time the games get shittier it's always the same tired arguments, which is especially retarded considering its a frachise that lives of an unchanged gameplay with removeable gimmicks each iteration and Nintendo itself says the core of their sales is the older audience, the majority of the player base is 25+.
