If a design looks good, then I'm already content with having that design - I don't need another. Whereas, when two related designs have their own identity, I find myself liking both designs more because of the ability to compare and contrast them and imagine the dynamic between them.
I don't exactly need a design to completely turn into something new or become muh funny themed anthro with a job but there needs to at least be something to spice it up.
