Meowscarada is just disgustingly busted. High Speed and Attack, a broken signature move that never misses and always crits, a filthy movepool with a boatload of options and coverage, and Protean, even with the nerf, is still one of the best abilities out there. The amount of blatant favouritism for this cat is downright nauseating.
Then Quaquaval has decent stats across the board except for its high attack, which is further boosted by Moxie, and thanks to its signature move boosting its speed, it's not far behind Meowscarada in terms of being an excellent physical sweeper after some setup. Plus things like Roost, Brave Bird, Close Combat, Ice Roller, etc. mean its movepool is solid too.
And then poor Skeledirge is stuck being a slow, defensive 'mon with a type that leaves him weak to Earthquake and Knock Off. He does have Will-o-Wisp and Hex going for him, and Torch Song's Sp. Atk boost is solid, especially with Unaware. Plus we know he gets Slack Off now, so that makes him better suited for defensive play. But he's still got the fewest options out of the three, and the worst typing for his role. Oh well. Wouldn't be the first time a good Starter design got screwed
