Aside from not transforming, it would make sense that only Ash's Greninja transforms to reflect him. Battle Bond is supposed to reflect the bond between trainer and Pokemon. A random Greninja wouldn't resemble Ash.

Was one of my favorite things about XY, and Iku-Z is my favorite japanese theme from the anime alongside Volt-V. They really did us dirty.

Greninja is still my favorite starter though, that won't change for awhile.

Protean now works more in line with abilities like Intimidate. It was far too OP, guaranteed STAB on everything and being able to change up to 4 different types.

Everything related to Ash-Greninja is a mistake so no skin off my back if the deviantart special snowflake oc ability gets a nerf

You could transfer Ash-Greninja to gen7 games AND HOME AND it had unique model in HOME.

They never did something like that before.

You could moce it from SM to USUM. That's what I meant. And it was transferable to HOME (unlike the spiked ear Pichu or the contest form Pikachu) AND it had a unique model in HOME.

Unlike Ash-Greninja who got retconned out of existence. It's not the same. It more like deleting Zen Mode Darm out of existence and making sure it will never come back. Or hell, just plain deleting a pokemon because it had a fucking unique model

Greninja worked a bit TOO WELL as a generational shillmon. It overshadowed LUCARIO and CHARIZARD, cannibalizing profits. This is why they shilled Lucario and Zard so much in the s8 anime.
This is also why they gutted Cinderace and Rillaboom in the transition from gen 8 to 9.
