Secret Bases and Contests
>Gen III: Good foundation, but definitely needed more depth>Gen IV: While some features were added to them (Underground and Dress-up + Dances), they got nerfed with a major flaw (Rocks that must be cleared via multiplayer and massive overhaul of the Appeal Round)Triple and Rotation Battles
>Gen V: Good foundation, but definitely needed more depth and utilization in single player outside of postgame battle facilities>Gen VII: Removed due to the shift to 3D in Gen VI causing lag and the addition of trainer models being too much for the hardware to bear. Did not return in Gens VIII or IX despite the jump to stronger hardware. (Gen IX can't even handle its own overworld.)Time of Day
>Gen II: Great for immersion if set to your actual time. Many things from Pokémon are encounters to services provided are affected.>Gen III: You have a clock, but no nighttime or weekday>Gen IV: Back to Gen II levels>Gen VIII: Outside of the Wild Area, time of day is dictated by story, must clear to unlock lol.>Gen IX: No longer determined by system time and transitioning between day and night is jarringly fast. Gotta give instant gratification to those zoomers and gen alphucked at the cost of looking like a cohesive world.Mini-Games
>Gens I - VII: So many things to do from gambling to sports to picking berries, games available and potential enjoyment varies.>Gens VIII & IX: YOU GET NOTHING, MAKE THE CURRY SANDWICH TO FEED YOUR MASTERS AT GAMEFREAK and the meat is made of the Pokémon removed from the games~! Now smile for the camera while you and your Pokémon eat your former friends!Et cetera, et cetera, I could go on about this all day.
If it wasn't for VGC and certain abilities (since they have yet dexcut those), Double Battles would've most likely been gone in SV, but it too is being slowly phased out and may not have much longer.
