My nephew wants pokemon cards for Christmas
Money is virtually no object, so I was wondering what Fat Packs are good
Pic related, I'm buying him two of each, one to open and one to sell when he reaches the age to start a family

Amazon is one of the worst places to buy this shit. They never check for anything so people just resell and return stuff after opening and taking the good shit. 99% those are opened boxes with no packs.
Cancel those orders and go to the store.

How old is your nephew? If he's a kid just get him a bunch of the normal stuff. Buy him a booster box at around the 90 to 100 range. Kids have more fun opening a lot of stuff and don't see the value in keeping sealed stuff.

There is a new Charizard box that just came out for 120. Comes with a bunch of packs, promo cards and other bullshit. It's pretty easy to find despite being a "ultra premium collection". If I were in the shoes I'd probably get that or a booster box.

Also if you want to set aside something for them to enjoy as an adult, buy vintage and just hold on to it. Nothing will hold value like vintage will. Don't give it to him, put it in a safe or something. If he's a fan of the series it will blow his mind as an adult unless he grows up to be a normal person who doesn't play children's games anymore.

If this kid is in the teens or lower there is no chance he won't open all of those boxes (assuming they aren't already opened and empty for him)

Either get him proper investments, or just buy some boxes he can open right away. If anything they'll be upset you bought them cards they can't open right away.

Amazon is usually fine with newer shit. I don't buy any older stuff so maybe avoid that or check reviews. I've personally never had an issue with Amazon before. Your nephew would probably enjoy the Charizard upc over the champions path box. If you want to buy him the latest set get him "Silver Tempest" packs. Also only buy him 1 of each etb. It has so much filler shit in it your nephew probably doesn't need doubles of.

Depending on how old the kid is, anon, I wouldn’t buy him a booster box and then tell him he can’t open it. Something kind of similar happened to me- I got a box and didn’t end up opening it, then my nephew found out about it and has been pestering me FOR YEARS to open that shit up.
Kids don’t give a fuck about investing, they just want to open packs up and have fun. Getting him a binder and sleeves and something to open will make him really happy. I fondly remember my aunt and uncle giving me Pokemon cards for Christmas

The takeaway I get from everyone saying kids don't understand investments is that I'll keep the second box secret. I don't think I'll live another 10 years how bad my COPD is getting, so he'll get a Christmas from beyond the grave when he's starting a family in say 10-15 years.

Autist, my point was not the time scale of the financial return. An anon suggested that proper, standard investments makes more sense if you're concerned about getting a child a long term investment gift. You mocked his suggestion with a sarcastic crypto retort and then tried to brag without prompting that you almost had another million to play with due to shitcoin. It's hypocritical cunt shit.

Regardless, the anon is right. Choose - if it's a gift to play with for the sake of a fond childhood memory, focus on that. If you want it to better his future, axe the held in secret pack and get him something with higher longterm earning potential. Or get the secret pack and also get him proper investments that are to be revealed once he reaches a certain age or hits certain developmental landmarks, like on marriage/child birth/etc.
