>>52070428I respect Game Freak so much for daring to create them; they're bold and quite different than your average Pokémon design, which really drives home the fact that they're from other "worlds"- like how Eldrich horror/alien creatures should look. They remind me of Digimon designs, only more restrained; which honestly makes them more appealing in my eyes as the average Pokémon design is far too oversimplified and sterile (yes, I know it's a children's franchise, but kids like weird and scary monsters, too).
Best of all, they're the best "new concept mon" we've gotten to date: they're not wasteful, temporary "evolutions" (like megas), slightly altered recolors (like regional forms), ballooned up temporary "evolutions" (like Gigantamax), or past and futured "themed" reskins (like Paradox Pokémon). Ultra Beasts are simply highly, highly underappreciated pocket monsters.
And yes, most people disagree with me on Pokémon design quality as I prefer humanoid, feminine, object-based, or multiplying Pokémon far more than normal animal looking, cutesy blob, or "kaiju" creatures.
