It matters because it's literally the reason she's a champion now, to fill the Champion spot of Unova in a tournament where every single Champion is based on the games, or the exactly two notable anime-only characters that did become Champions.

None of whatever the fuck you just said explains why they didn't keep Alder. The anime doesn't have to follow BW2 canon unless they would've did it during the actual series and retconned everything making her Champion then and there.
