>>52112123I'm a 30 year old fuck. I started with Blue.
I still think Gen 1 designs are the WORST we've had in the entire series.
Everything is "just an animal" + element, or an angry ball with arms. Sometimes not even with arms.
Designs got more interesting from Gen 3 onwards.
Geodude? Angry ball with arms.
Gengar? Angry ball with arms.
Electrode? Angry ball.
Growlith? Just a fire dog.
Fuck, even the starters. No wonder Charizard gets the most love!
Venusaur? Grass toad.
Blastoise? Turtle with canons on its back. (And that was my first starter ever).
At least Charizard was kinda cool. Not just a fire lizard, a fire DRAGON! With wings n shit!
Gen 2 was more of the same.
We got more fire dogs, just a spider, literally just a ferret, etc.
Gen 3? Okay now we're talking.
Even the simpler designs were interesting. Sceptile? Grass lizard... but with a tree for a tail! And grass swords! Alright, thats cool.
I don't get why people hate on object mons. They're the MOST creative.
How many fucking fire dogs do we have? Too many.
How many Keychains do we have? One. I mean fuck, someone looked at a keyring and said "... I can make a creature outta that!"
That's creativity. That's originality. Looking at something and saying "... but what if it was alive?"
And it even adds to the lore of the series. Vanillish isn't based on ice cream. Ice cream in the Pokemon world was based on Vanillish!
A frozen treat that looks like a cute pokemon!
Yo, thats sick! Humans didn't invent the gear, the gear formed in nature as Klink and humans went "yo we can replicate that and use it for cool shit!"
Rich people went "I want our lights to look like that dope ass Chandelure because its classy" and bam, chandeliers were invented.
What does Gen 1 have?
A pile of sludge that... got hit with X rays... from the moon? Okay...
A living magnet that becomes more magnets? Fuck, can we talk about that?
Gen 1 legit thought "what if we added 2 more" was good design.
