>>52121657That's it, I'm defending this piece of shit.
Its a cute version of a cooked shrimp(ebi) on an inflateable sac that looks like rice. Shrimp have had some slight dragon references in japanese culture AFAIK in the past. The hint of "sushi dragon fish" is WILDLY on the nose for what we got.
I'm really looking forward to that guy's interpretation of a sushi-mon, because when most sushi is either a roll, just a slab of fish(sashimi) or fish on rice(nigiri) I gotta know what other interpretations are out there. Not even being a dick with this, I'm kinda hype about what he's gonna come up with.
I think it's fair to say that most people would think of rice when it comes to sushi. So how would you incorporate fish and rice into the design of an ostensibly living creature that exists in the wild? You can't just use a .jpeg of a sushi roll and slap anime eyes on it, and this is pretty fucking close to that, which is borderline a strike against it.
Either it would look nothing like sushi and be a very soft reference, or it looks exactly like sushi and some sperg doesn't know what a cooked shrimp on rice looks like.
The fact the sac can deflate to a single grain of rice makes sense from an ecological perspective, so that way its not stuck being boyant and unable to maneuver or whatever the fuck.
For what the concept is, the design services that concept pretty well, about as well as your mother services all the members at the nearest gym.
