If you emulate you can just swap your file freely between both games and only miss the final boss. Since you get two box legends, you can get Scarlet's from the plot, save, switch to violet, get the post game OTHER box legendary, then consolidate your file back to the original.
I didn't know about this until too late, so I'll be missing Miraidon til trading becomes easier.
