In honor of the death of weird neat unique transfer moves thanks to no fun allowed Game Freak, let's talk about Pokemon with neat transfer moves. Especially ones with moves you can learn in GSC and send back to RBY. I don't care how unviable it is, Pay Day Nidoking is fucking neat.

I'm torn on transfer moves. In theory they are fine and would allow for some cool expansions to movesets, but unfortunately the moves gamefreak picks to make TMs are some of the most cancerous. Knock Off, Scald, Roost and Toxic were by far the worst of the potential transfer moves. Some of the moves they got rid of I think would have been fine though, like Defog, Roar, and Teleport.

I fully understand the argument and went through it in the thread yesterday. This isn't about being for or against the competitive shakeup of gutting legacy moves, it's about slapping TM Ice Punch on a Grimer and trading it back to Red version because autism demands it.

I'm a strong fan of both move cuts and dexit but they should've done more with commemorating Pokemon from old games and weird events
Gutting ribbons instead of doing more with them for collection purposes was a mistake

In Gen 4, Scizor got Ominous Wind. It's not viable in any way, of course. But I built a special-based Scizor with it for 4way battles we organized in Gen 6. I had that, Silver Wind, Vacuum Wave and HP Steel.

Used these guys mostly to grind Battle-Tower, but tower's not even in lmao so w/e. Also have stuff like E-speed Entei and Helping Hand Rhydon but those are no longer transfer only anyway.

Honestly I'd be fine if they just implemented an "Event Move" flag for stuff like Roar of Time Darkrai or V-Create Rayquaza. That shit should persist even if regular transfer moves don't.

It sucks so much that GF is somehow doubling down on the Dexit policy by making all sorts of old things no longer exist
For every wish chansey or extreme speed genesect you have like 5 blast burn/hydro cannon Arceus, electro ball Mewtwo, and Psycho Boost Lugia
Gen 8 was already bad enough with Dexit but between this and the genuinely absurd powercreep this generation it increasingly feels like GF doesn’t even want the player to bother transferring old mons

Pic related. I got this as a kid because I happened to be in NYC at the time and it took me like 4 years before I realized how stupidly privileged I was to actually have this dang thing
I even did fist pumps when bottle caps became a thing because it meant I could finally have real IVs
Just make it an egg move at least

i actually have a morning sun scyther, currently in X. will eventually have to wipe his moves, though. hes ultimately going to be a ribbon master, and to be admitted into online comp in swsh you have to talk to an npc that nukes your movesets, so you cant get the online ranked ribbon without deleting it :(

Don’t bother with that, GF made ribbon master functionally impossible
there’s a ribbon in SV that’s a 1/256 chance to get whenever you send something off on wonder trade
Might as well leave it in Gen 7 forever

im just taking "ribbon master" as having all the ribbons that particular pokemon could get, so im not bothered about dexit stuff. my scyther should actually be able to get everything though, and im gonna go back and do a heracross so he has a buddy

as for the wonder trade ribbon, either the problem should solve itself since purified pokemon have been ineligible for wonder trade til now, or ill hope and pray they make local wonder trade possible

My bolt strike victini has to stay in gen 8.. :( Had some good times absolutely crushing water types with it. So many mons are gonna be gutted like v-create rayquaza, follow me jirachi, soft boiled clefable. The list goes on.
