They're not ending the anime but Satoshi/Ash is more than likely not going to be the MC of the next series. Either Gou is moving up in the world or we're getting a fresh start in Paldea.

How is Pikachu going to be handled?
He's basically in a symbiotic relationship with Ash, how do you explain separating them? Because Pikachu has to be in the anime to work, and THAT Pikachu.

When Sinnoh's anime started, all we had for the first episode was Dawn's hijinx. Ash then showed up.
When Sinnoh ended, everyone swore up and down Ash would be retired for Unova. He wasn't.
Kalos comes around, and people stated since the new group of friends was revealed, means Ash had no room. He made room.
When the demo for Sun and Moon came out, and Ash wrote you a letter to take care of his Greninja, /vp/ was excited, he wasn't going to Alola. He went to Alola.
People swore up and down he wasn't going to go to Galar since he 'won a league finally'. He went to Galar.
Now it's 2022, and you still think he'll be retired?

Bombierdier has RocketMon written all over it.
Iron Bundle too if the anime makes the paradoxes cast mons.
It's the only future paradox that is very clearly comic relief and Delibird is already a TR mon in the anime.

Yes because the entire end of the fight with Leon/Dande was set up as a massive send off to the journey of 20 years and because we have Goh who's entirely his own character with a continuous goal.

Ash also has an ongoing goal that he wants to reach. Ash wants to become a Pokémon Master, and a Pokémon Master is not the same thing as a Pokémon (World) Champion. What exactly a Pokémon Master is has never been clearly and precisely defined, and Ash himself has stated that becoming a Champion is just one step toward becoming a Pokémon Master. Ash is more or less the one human character that basically everyone that's familiar with the Pokémon series knows of, and I see no reason why The Pokémon Company would want to throw away that massive star power when it's not necessary to do so at all.

Problem with that is he's currently on a pedestal so high that having him lose in any form is going to feel like a betrayal of his effort. Remember in B/W when everyone was upset that Pikachu jobbed to a Snivy after just how smart Ash was in Sinnoh? You'd be magnifying that exponentially.

It’d be cool if the main cast would be allowed to have Paradox mons. Sun and Moon had the main cast with three mythicals and Ash got an Ultra Beast so it might be possible.
