Never gonna happen, just play a Gen 3 battlesim and emulate the original for the singleplayer. You are now at the point where you can only bitch about how Pokemon used to be good back in your day while a younger generation calls you nostalgia-addled and insists the series has only ever improved over the years.

When gen 8 is someone's bar for quality, these kids will never know what they could actually have because these kids are definitely not going to bother going back to play the other games. Not a lot of young kids know how to emulate and the secondhand market is a crapshoot, with the 3DS titles slowly making their way into that category as the 3DS consoles become more scarce and the physical cartridges soon after (also the eventual loss of the 3DS eShop)

Doesn't even matter, even if they did go back and play Emerald, they'll just complain about the lack of physical/special split, TMs not being infinite use, the reliance on HMs, and a slew of other QoL-related things, and arrive at the conclusion that the game has "aged poorly". Different fanbase with different tastes.

I'd even say they should try gens 6-7 as well as much as an unpopular opinion that is. Some much-appreciated features are going to die with those games, sadly. Exp Share on/off toggles, in-game GTS, and now (as of gen 9), turn off battle animations and set/switch battle styles. I'm never not impressed with how many steps backwards are taken while moving forward. This series is endlessly walking up a down escalator

Remakes are lazy, unless they actually fix the flaws. Why would I play a port of this, instead of the original emerald, or an emerald ROM hack like Inclement Emerald.

I'll admit that I'm in that camp as well, but that doesn't make the game bad. I'm pretty sure there are some mods/rom patches that can iron out those issues. Downside, Timmy 7-year-old is NOT going to know how to do that himself. A lot of the modern-day design philosophy just seems to be "replace" instead of "improve" because that would take time. What baffles me is when really simple options are removed. The lead developers really want to railroad the players into playing in one particular way, especially considering how TPCi is openly against things like Nuzlocke challenges. This is just hostile game design and the kid demographic will be none the wiser to these decisions

the composer of this game has to do the bulk of the work keeping it’s relevancy alive because GF and TPCi sure as hell won’t

it’s such an incredible OST and neat game, it and XD GoD, at least we’ll never forget

Its literally just gen1-5(except johto right now for some reason?) Except like the wild area in galar you see other people walking around the map and theres a world chat with battle and trade requests.

BDSPs failure falls on GameFreak for not understanding that:
A. Make the game in house.
B. Include Megas(and give Froslass her Mega) if there is zero intention to include GigantiMAX/DynaMAX.
C. Should have been a Platinum Remake considering the lack luster performance of ORAS.
But none of this happened and GameFreak just proved their sheer incompetence again.
