I think rattled dudunsparce is going to be cool, lots of wimpy pokemon are going to be running knock off and u turn and it's got bulk to eat a hit from them. Just switch into a cyclizar, get your speed boost, calm mind up, and boomburst away. It set up a sub? No problem, that's why you're running the special set.

Some jackass said that using a physical Iron Valiant is the only way to go. Have you never heard of a mixed set before? Seriously, Iron Valiant isn't that bulky, so why waste a good special attack stat. Hell, you can even go full special to trick people. With Iron Valiant stats being good in both attack department, you can take advantage of that and put pressure on your opponent as they can't figure out which set, you're running. A mixed set for a full "fuck you and try to block this". Or full sp. attack to blind side them as they may be prepared only for the physical set. It has good sp. attacks on it.

Anon, I'm pretty sure it's not permanent since you can actually change the weather/terrain to stop their boost. Also, they are nothing like Zacian and Zamazenta where they get a super form that make them just as strong as Arceus.

Clodsire has much better special bulk and slightly less physical bulk than Quagsire. But more weaknesses, especially to Ground, hurt it as an Unaware user. If you go Water Absorb that cuts your weaknesses but the weakness to Ice basically guarantees you won't be as good as Quagsire at walling Water and Ice types.
That being said your overall bulk is certainly better, and the widespread distribution of Trailblaze and Tera Blast this generation makes Quagsire's 4x weakness to Grass hurt way more than ever before.
Costs and benefits to each.

There's no way Urshifu doesn't get banned now. That Punching Glove item works with Wicked/Surging AND it has built in pads? shit was made for Urshifu. Him killing himself on rocky helmet was one of the only things keeping him in check

I don't think chilling water and hazard helps quag that much

Rapid Strike was only slightly worse than Single Strike but because of that it got shoved into OU
Wicked Blow is absolutely bonkers and I would've preferred it if other Dark Types got it instead

last respects is a 50bp physical ghost move that picks up another 50bp for each fainted ally
so you just send the thing in at the end of a match in sand and watch it clean house if the opponent is out of normal types

Yes they have almost zero defensive counterplay in OU.

Ting-Lu yes, but I'm afraid it's over for Wo-Chien, as even the weakest U-Turn will do about 50% to it and lacks Recover.

I don't think Ting-Lu is ubers material anon. Ground/Dark has many nasty weaknesses and it really doesn't do much besides setting hazards. No recovery outside Rest is a big deal.

recovery as a whole was nerfed into the ground, having natural bulk is much more important in a world where you only get 8 recovers
ting-lu can take serious punishment before going down and has 2 immunites and a lot of resists to compensate for its weaknesses while also having a stupid high attack stat for a wall. if anything itll shine the brightest on fat offensive teams over being used as a standard wall

I know everyone and their mother is jerking off the four perils in Smgon format, but when you look at them in VGC, they seem very risky. From the way their ability is describe, it seems that it even affects your other Pokémon. This mean that, you're also weakened your own Pokémon given your opponent an advantage. Don't one of them basically have intimidate? You're going to end up intimidating yourself as well.

Don't know what you're talking about but I just did a quick count and there were about 18 non-peril/paradox/legendary fully evolved mons with 90+ speed out of 45. 40% of dex having 90+ speed is definitely speedcreep.

Nah, nobody really knows. Just think of last gen how Seismitoad raise to the occasion due to Dracovish dominance, and then later how Arctovish has OU usage due to Hail offense teams. It's impossibl to predict at this point as there are too many variables.

what's the best set for palafin?

You can use the Mirror Herb to have the Pokemon learn egg moves from any other Pokemon regardless of egg groups/species. Just have your Blissey hold it, then have literally any other mon with Heal Bell in your party, open a picnic and give it a minute.

Arboliva has great SpDef and SpA, so you want 252 HP and 252 in either SpA or SpDef. Ability should be Seed Sower, moveset something like Giga Drain/Earth Power/Strength Sap/Hyper Voice

Kilowattrel is pretty straightforward, invest in SpA and Speed. Volt Absorb seems like the most useful ability. Rain moveset: Thunder/Volt Switch or U-Turn/Hurricane/Weather Ball

Kingambit should work with any standard Bisharp moveset. Dunno if Supreme Overlord is better than Defiant, depends on the boost. Absolutely needs Sucker Punch because its slow. Because of its 50 base speed it may not need 252 in Speed, just invest enough to outspeed some walls, put the rest in bulk and obviously Attack.

I can see it but I believe h-decidueye would be a better user for trailblaze despite being slower. He hits way harder and has Triple arrows 50% def drop and 30% flinch chance + a potential crit. Chesnaught is more of a tank that sets up spikes

Honestly might be one of the first dedicated Tera mons who rears it's head in the meta. It seems perfectly built for it: strong bases indecent offensive stats and the speed to make it work under Sun via Chlorophyll, but poor coverage lets it down hard. That said, it'll be competing on Sun with the Past Paradoxes, and that's a tall order to fill. Thankfully it completely avoids type overlap with all but probably the worst one in Brute Bonnet, but it's still something to consider.

I feel like Smogon just needs to just fucking put a tier between OU and Ubers or split OU and Ubers in half or something, Ubers is getting way too bloated where only a handful of pokemon ACTUALLY feel like they belong there, and the rest are washouts who are too good for OU but accomplish jackshit in a tier that has Kyogre, Arceus, Kyurem-W, and and Yveltal running around, and it makes OU just feel like theyre trying to keep a consistent power level gen to gen instead of it actually being the premier metagame. Ubers is a bulky meta where almost everything can survive getting OHKO, OU isn't like that and needs designated tanks to sponge attacks. Mons that are powerful enough to sweep through frail OU teams won't do shit in Ubers, which is why Magearna, Genesect, and Urshifu-SS saw no use there
In the past, Smogon has considered dropping Ubers to OU if they'll actually add something positive to the meta and not just warp team building, and that might be necessary here.

Not an amazing Pokemon but Trick Room in doubles is probably your best play, a mixed attacker would be good. You probably need Protect in doubles so Assault Vest might not be an option, but its decent. Lean on its coverage in doubles. It has a lot of Super Effective options, and it might be a decent Tera user with Ice.
Another option is a Coil set. It gets Body Press, which is a really underrated buff for it. Invest in defense somewhat, maybe Rest/Chesto to offset no healing. It can provide really nice support with +1 Body Press and accurate Thunders. If you get two Coils off, you can spam Zap Cannon, but thats probably a meme. However, it would offer really solid and annoying Para support. This could only really be used in the lower tiers, wherever it lands.

Some of the other Electrics introduced are probably easier to use, like Pawmot and Kilowattrel. Even Toxtricity with normal Tera will absolutely nuke things with Boomburst.

Kilowattrel is just Zapdos but more tuned to rain teams since it gets Volt Absorb. For doubles Wind Power and Competitive are much better, since you can proc Wind Power with Tailwind from a Pelliper or other teammate, and Competitive for obvious Intimidate reasons

You don't want to use it on a grass type with a better attack, but for shit that couldn't hit bulky waters or ground types it's a solid option that makes you better. Anyone sad about stall nerf?
They gave us so many incredible offense tools, so much damage and power... But then nerfed our punching bags, so now it's just "the fastest pokemon will ohko your mon" or "bulky enough to take one hit, set-up and then run wild".
All the satisfaction is gone. Like imagine using HArcanine during gen 8 meta.

Brute Bonnet and it doesn't even seem close. Iron Thorns is worse than base Ttar and has a redundant STAB combo but that statline+DDance screams UU at worst imo. Brute Bonnet's typing lets it down really fucking hard for a defensive mon, and unlike the snail legendary it doesn't have the absurd ability and optimized stats to pull through regardless

Those in-universe rivalries/predator-prey-relationships are always contradictory to in-game matchups. Sableye supposedly also preys on Carbink despite the type advantage. Theres also Zangoose/Seviper and Golisopod/Grapploct which have clear winners as well, yet the pokedex treats them as equals

Reminder that Terastal is a thing and its best abusers are high BST setup sweepers with great coverage and shit defensive type. Iron Thorns is practically built to abuse Terastal.
It's faster than Tyranitar so it's not outclassed as a Terastal abuser.
So if Terastal isn't banned Iron Thorns will have a niche, otherwise it's a shitmon.

fucked up jigglypuff has a giant movepool of weird shit to do. Aside from the boring fast fat wisher it can use bulk up or calm mind with a lot of coverage. Still probably one of the weakest but you can't know what it's going to do immediately.

One major weakness I see compared to normal quagsire is that it's poison typing makes it naturally weak to psychic type calm mind users, so Unaware Clodsire is a poor check to them where Quagsire, despite it's worse special bulk, is arguably better.

I think the problem is that Dark just adds a fuckton of really revelant weaknesses that Grass doesn't help with (and it exacerbates it's weakness to Bug, even if that's not the most relevant thing). Turning EQ neutrality into a resist ain't worth turning Fighting AND Fairy resists into Weaknesses, and if you want an offensive sun mon the rest of the past Paradoxes are right there.

Growth+Sucker is still a pretty big risk when the things that threaten you most both resist it and often oneshot you in return. It really could've dropped one of those defenses for speed and been far better off.

Was really hoping for Seismic Toss/Night Shade, but I can sort of see this working. Less so for the offensive sweeping potential, and moreso for the defensive checking potential.

It's got a legitimately fantastic defensive profile, being somehow omnibulky AND quite fast. We could see it forcing a lot of switches, which it has tools to actually take advantage of.

I'm still not quite sure what to make of this thing, but I don't think CM/BU sets are out of the question.

It gets Flare Blitz and a hand full of other Fire moves iirc, which do pair nicely with Dragon/Fighting coverage. Not as much of a direct buff as Terrain for Miraidon is, but its something.

I'm curious to see how it goes. Balance is safe and sound since you rarely need more than 8 recoveries but stall is fucked yes. Winning against stall is satisfying 99% because you hate the player and 1% because of strategy, as you either have a cteam m/counter mon or you will spend at least 60 turns even with good matchup
