Would you use legendary Pokemon if the games were much more difficult? It seems like other monster catching games are all about min-max end game monsters and Pokemon is the only one where people are like "use your bros". Like in SMT there are some people that build demons like The Jack Bros or Pixie for the endgame but that's more the exception than the rule.
