What did they do to Forretress? He’s always had an almost moon rock looking craggy shell and an interior that was clearly of different makeup. This model smoothed out the shell and gave them both a weird glossy metallic sheen. I’m not gonna say he’s ruined but he looks more like a Violet Paradox Pokémon than the normal Forretress.

I see what you mean anon. I always thought the red parts were more organic than metallic, but I do think the outer shell looks good in SV.

If not organic at least some kind of metal without such a strong sheen on it. Idk compared to this or the original Sugimori art the shell just lost a lot of the definition that the ridges added and now it just looks like he’s blowing up like a balloon. Noticeably bizarre to me. I do think the main shell might have been more tolerable if the inside wasn’t so glossy though.

You can literally see the red has significantly more sheen than the pink in that art. It was always supposed to look like metal, it's another layer of the shell.

I hate the way they made a lot of steel types look all metallic. It looks so weird. Like not even Pokken had Scizor all metallic, when that game totally could have if they wanted to.

I don't know that anyone is debating that it was meant to be a little shiny.
understand that shiny doesn't mean metal. see: earthworms, or a billion other things

maybe it was always meant to look made of metal, but they never actually conveyed it.

Both layers are metal. Sugimori art already depicted like that as >>52150397 said and its original podedex entry mentions the real body is unseen behind the metallic shell, so the red part is also shell and not the body

not OP but I always really liked Forrtress, I think his design is really cool. I wish they'd make him better, but it feels like with Ferrothorn and other new pokemon that he'll just be relegated to a shitmon with no chance of redemption.
