I do not give a fuck. Gaining XP still isn't trivial, because fainted Pokemon do not gain XP so now there's an extra element of keeping your whole team alive throughout tough battles that wasn't there before

The only reason anyone "has to" is because we're probably never going back to having all in one game, since only having a fraction is both the lazier and probably more lucrative option for GF.

I used set mode because it meant you couldn't just throw out your counter pick and be guaranteed a win. I skipped gen 7 and 8 but given what I remember from 6 I suppose unless you avoid as many trainer battles as possible you'll be overlevelled for all the gyms anyways, so it wouldn't matter, not using items in combat with set mode was a fun way to play the games

I guess the shiny starters and legendary also for people who care about that. Though I don't personally care.
The removed Pokemon is only an issue because gamefreak is unable to properly take advantage of a smaller pokemon rooster to improve the rest of the games, improving the player-pokemon-world interaction, etc. So even though they get removed but we don't get the tradeoff we should in return. The problem would also be minimized it there was a Stadium like game where every single pokemon can be used (both Rental and your own pokemon from Home).
But we all already know all that. Gamefreak won't deliver next gen either, as always.

I can see that, but you still have the option of just not sending out a different Pokemon. And besides, you literally have a team of 6 Pokemon for a reason, just send out the counterpicks

yeah, but if it's a poor match up then chances are yours will faint. Against harder gym leaders or the elite 4, if you restrict yourself by not using items mid-fight that can matter. You have to decide if it's better to sacrifice the pokemon you already have out or switch and take an extra hit on another one

Hyper training was dogshit and was immediately overshadowed by a far superior and faster EV training method in the same game it was introduced in with Horde battles. Fuck off losers. Only good thing about it was EV clearing bags and getting evolution stones. The time it took to finish an XL Bag with one Pokemon you could win 1 horde battle and get more EVs for a whole party of Pokemon. What a shit ass gimmick for toddlers

We don't know yet since Southern Kalos seems to exist next to Paldea but it's still the most represented "gimmick" across pokemedia.
