You can make up a new Ability for a Pokémon too if you wanna
I'd like Game Freak to do what they did in Gen 7 and give shitmons abilities that summon Weather/Terrain on entry. So Electric Surge Ampharos.

I had an idea for this one, give a Lighting Rod ability for bug type moves.

Maybe call it Exterminator, make it split the potential damage into harm on the bug move user and healing for the ability holder.

It's probably too much.

Earth Eater. Gets rid of one of its 4x weaknesses. Also canonically it eats iron, so it’s not a huge stretch to think it eats iron-rich soil and stone.

Furry electric or energy based pokemon (like picrel) would get the ability

Yes, the games with the past and future as its motif doesn't have any fossil Pokémon. You know, Pokémon millions of years from the past. Apparently Game Freak didn't clue in that having fossil Pokémon would've been perfect.

A pipe dream would be a DLC that's all about fossil Pokémon and being able to travel back in time to their respective time periods. But considering this is Game Freak that's not going to happen (wasted opportunities is their signature move) and Aurorus still won't be able to learn Power Gem for the nth generation in a row. Also no STAB biting moves for Tyrantrum.

Before Earth Eater was a thing, I was throwing around "Rock Eater" as a signature ability for Onix.
>Absorbs Rock moves and field hazards to regain HP. Attack power is doubled vs Rock types.

Makes it feel like a "King of Rock Types" that a Gym Leader would be proud to own, and also gives it a unique niche in competitive. This without powering it up too much in-game, so it can still fill its role as an early-game tutorial boss.

Double the damage of electric type moves in a pinch.

It's kind of sad that the mascot of the franchise doesn't have its own unique ability, and I'd like to see it at least have a chance in competitive. Don't know if this is too strong or too weak but you get the idea.
