C rank means barely usable in the tier in very specific team compositions, "you will not automatically lose if you bring this Pokémon". It's a consolation prize at best, not a badge of honor.

If you compare any Pokémon to Alolan Marowak you are, knowingly or not, calling it a day one overrated shitmon that will lose nearly all relevance as the meta is figured out.

We need to stop with this cope that UU or C rank means "still good" because it doesn't. It's fine to admit that the power threshold is high and most mons no longer have what it takes.

Not sure how much lower tiers you played in gen 8 but they were pretty shit because of dlc. They take forever to stabilize and when they finally do some dumb shit drops or more dlc comes out and you have to wait like 5 months again for it to become playable.

Aqua Step, its new sig move, is 80 BP and raises speed by 1 stage. It also has Moxie. It's janky Dynamax Gyarados.

Notably, it gets Acrobatics, Wave Crash, Aqua Step, Close Combat, Swords Dance, Baton Pass (lol), U-turn, Brave Bird, Bulk Up, Taunt, Facade, and Ice Spinner. Quaquaval could very well end up busted depending on how the meta shakes out. Notably, it hits 442 speed after 1 Aqua Step if it's running 252+ speed. That's faster than Dragapult.

Does anybody play monotype? Ice, ghost, poison all look like they gain some fun tools and bug looks fucked. Those are the only types I've played in past gens so I don't really know how the others are stacking up.

Rai- I mean Water is looking really nice in the pre-DLC meta too. Dondozo, Palafin, Iron Bundle, P-Tauros, and Quaquaval are great new additions. Water also keeps Barraskewda and Pelipper, though it sadly lost Seismitoad.

Yeah, I was thinking water looked like it was in a good spot even pre-home since we're going full weather channel this gen. Not having Kilowattrel isn't a big deal when some teams might not be able to hit eletric in the first place. Shame that a lot of the sun fans are paradox instead of fire types and sand looks mediocre in monotype terms versus rain/snow.

Snow isn't very good at the minute since just Beartic and Cetitan get Slush Rush. Sun is not going to be seen in Monotype, likely, since no Paradox, though it does have Torkoal. Sand is looking a bit better as both TTar and Hippo return, but Sand Rush is in just as bad of a spot as Slush Rush.

With Tera it's broken (but then again a lot of things are), without it's a FMA and those usually aren't good unless they're VERY fast like Dragapult.

At the end of the day it will run SD/CC/Play Rough/Ice Punch, standard physical set that Lando and Pex handle easily.
If it goes special it's walled by fat blobs, if it goes mixed it can probably score a KO and then gets raped by priority.

I pretty much only play this game because of monotype. Mostly fighting and poison. I think fighting got some really great tools this time around with great tusk/victory dance lilligant. First impression silther wing will help dent things too. Sneasler helps with the shitty fairy match-up as well
Poison got prankster taunt/encore/parting shot and a ghost immunity which helps a lot. I think I get fucked by ghost the most on poison. Not to mention iron moth, and Glimmora. Sucks about the recovery nerf but it's understandable honestly.

I'm not a big trick room user but several people were saying he is the best setter in this dex.
He has an anti priority ability, he has good coverage and helping hand and he has 60 spd with 120/70/70 bulk.
Just slap any moves your team needs.

Alright I'm going to open this post by saying that tinkaton is an extremely shitty design, I hate it, fuck lolifags, and I hope it's not good because I would like to see it as little as possible.

Tinkaton might do alright for itself in OU once they hyper offense meta cools down in the wake of bans. Due to its typing and bulk, it will find ample opportunities to set up swords dances, and the lack of scald means most fatmons like slowbro can't do shit about it. Mold breaker means that quagsire, clodsire, and colbur (does colbur even exist in SV?) skeledirge don't wall it, though all three can hit it back decently hard. Hilariously, one of the fatmons that has the best odds against it is corv, who can always run iron defense body press it if it's not too scared of ghosts like cheese man. The other one is pex, who resists basically everything it has and can haze it. Tink's biggest downside - even more than its hilarious stats - is its movepool. The only ones that matter are gigaton hammer, ice hammer, and knock off, and they've all got significant drawbacks. I can see a lot of tinkfags getting dabbed on when something weak to steel comes in and sets up on it while giga hammer is on cooldown.

TL;DR probably better than thread thinks but will be shit early on and only has a chance of finding a niche later.

People are being too harsh on Weavile. Its movepool got gutted but they forget it still has Beat Up which in HO teams with high-ATK team mates is stronger than Knock Off in early game, and that Icicle Crash is more consistent than Triple Axel.
Ao it still has a niche of an early-game breaker and revenge killer thanks to priority Ice Shard rolled together, and with an amazing STAB combo.
So if the meta has fat dark-vulnerable mons coupled with fast ice-weak ones that need revenge killing, OU has a place for it.

Exceptions to the rule are stallmons. Slowbro, Tangrowth, Gastrodon, Amoonguss, Quagsire, Suicune and the likes of these can compete in OU even if they're in the lower tiers so even if they're not OU by usage they're often viable in OU and if stall is a strong playstyle they're ranked highly.

The statline is relatively tanky but I can't see it being able to take more than one hit reliably with Choice items. Sub BU plus Drain Punch recovery is ideally supposed to maximize the amount of hits it can take.

On Regieleki it's a moot point because anything that was outspeeding its monstrous 200 base speed was OHKO'ing it anyways (Barraskewda, Hawlucha, Excadrill). Ice is still an absolutely awful type that needs more buffs. Only resisting itself 9 generations in is fucking retarded, especially since Game Freak only occasionally makes Ice types that can take advantage of it being a good offensive type, like Chien-pao, Weavile, Garm, and Calyrex-Ice.

I think they have made it clear that they will not improve ice defensively, even the gym leader in XY outright says it's supposed to be the glass cannon type.
To compensate they're slowly giving ice perks other types don't have:

And I'm sure that was intentional because it conveniently has a type advantage against all of ice's weaknesses.
That move incentives their use, especially those with Slush Rush like Cetitan.
Slowking being slow as shit means ice types can finally switch-in without having to be hurt badly.

That is a poor interpretation. Breloom prefers lo or sash. Maybe poison heal breloom with sub can run it. Basically a mon that is going to want to use the dice will either want an immediately winning speed tier, set up, or bulk with recovery. It is on par with items like the wide lens or kings rock. Sure smogon will tell you it is necessarily sub optimal but depending on the strategy or mon it can be good. I'm thinking dice best fits on Moon-Mence with scale shot.

Snow buffing defense is nice, but unless you're Avalugg in the Snow, you're still getting OHKO'd by very common phys attacks like Flare Blitz, Close Combat, Superpower, High Jump Kick, and Stone Edge. Even then, Avalugg still takes an unpalatable amount of damage from switching into SE physical attacks. It has Aggron Syndrome, except its frailer but has recovery.

Do as >>52161539 said and play on Showdown. They'll have the Gen 9 format up soon. When making a team, it'll tell you what notable moves a Pokemon has, it'll automatically allocate stats for you in the best way possible for general play, and you can easily switch Pokemon on your team in the builder.

the important thing to realize is that while they could be any type they have to choose beforehand what type it is so they don't get to be whatever happens to be the best type at the moment. at the start it probably won't be too chaotic with a bunch of pokemon running a same type tera for the extra STAB boost and a few others going for a third STAB to help some matchups. After that people will experiment the counter strats and anti-meta tera types but for the most part it will be predictable if you've been keeping up. at worst you'll probably have to make a guess between two common teras before scouting them out.
It's also pretty important to know that it's only once per match so once they spend their tera their other mons can't use it and you can't adapt accordingly.

Fairy/Ground. All 3 types that resist Fairy are weak to Ground. The only Pokemon that don't get hit for at least neutral are Fire, Poison, or Steel types that are part Flying or have Levitate, which narrows down to Weezing, Corviknight, Moltres, Ho-oh, Skarmory, Crobat, or Talonflame. Since Torkoal is the only remaining Pokemon with Drought, it could work on Paradox teams by being an alt-sun setter with Dry Rock. A bit slower than just switching in Torkoal, but it doesn't fear switching in as much as Torkoal.

the thing about incineroar isn't that it's an unstoppable force in VGC on it's own but it's the perfect storm of support for other much stronger mons. intimidate is one of the most powerful VGC abilities and is activated automatically, fake out is really strong for disrupting anything you can try to do on turn 1, it gets things like parting shot to cripple a mon and switch in one of your threats (which also allows it to later use intimidate again), etc.
there are a ton of pokemon that can take out incineroar but the real issue is worrying about the powerful legendaries that it supports.
