Palafin's zero form basically isn't the actual pokemon, its the Hero form that's his real design. I think its actually really smart how they expand the ring of water around its tail into gloves and a cape.
Besides that? Eh yeah I'd say they aren't amazing. Toedscool/cruel is still gonna get forgotten about as a worse Amoonguss. THe rest of the gen though, honestly I'd say its the best overall gen in a long ass time, im not really big on the starters but like, I actually dont mind most of the forgettable shitmon. If there's anything I really don't like, its probably Dachsbun being a massive visual downgrade to Fidough with an awful gimmick, and Veluza for being the single most forgettable new Pokemon, his ability doesn't even help when 3 other pokemon got Sharpness too who are just all around better
