Unironically though, if this came out today, I don't think most people would remember Caterpie line, Pidgey line, Spearow line, Rattata line, Ekans line, Meowth line, Grimer line, Krabby line, Seel line, Goldeen line, Horsea line, etc. a few years later, except maybe to complain about how lazy some of them are.
They're mostly all competent designs, but they aren't super interesting or creative.

Reminds me, anyone else play DQM? The gameplay was a nice remix on all the monster catching spinoffs Pokemon spawned for its time but obviously it didn't have the ability to stay relevant
