>>52164678>I hate how normies made "Pokémon is bad because it doesn't change" the narrative I don't think that you should, OP.
>Legends' "le based innovative gameplay" is shallow as fuck.I haven't played Legends and I don't think its gameplay is specifically why it is so well received. I strongly believe that it's well-received because it is a different means of presenting Pokemon given what is ostensibly the same degree of thorough attention as a mainline title. People undersell things like writing, aesthetics, etc., all the time, narrowing down what constitutes a good game to only its mechanics. But modern video games aren't Pac-Man. They are context-driven adventures.
People did the same exact thing with Kingdom Hearts for years. "I don't care about the story, I play it for the gameplay." Dude, what are you talking about? Of course, you're playing it for the story. Do you mean to tell me you skipped every cutscene from the word go? I don't believe you. Anyway, the writing was on the wall for several installments. As the story continued to degenerate in slop, so too did the associated gameplay. The devs were getting lazier and lazier, possibly because the thing they were working on was incomprehensible. This eventually culminated in a game that was worse than the previous mainline installment in nearly every way.Anyway, I really do think the main driving force of people's appreciation for P:LA is the unique presentation.
