What if the entire game was a retelling of a story someone made up? Think about it. Time travel was proven to not be what actually happened in SV. The same could be true here. Plus, it makes no sense for these new evolutions to stop working all of a sudden when they were better. Plus the game is called Pokémon LEGENDS as in it could all be a legend.
